The only SaaS video that you should make

There are a million videos you can make for your tech startup, but which one should you do first?

If you could only make ONE video for your tech startup, what should it be?

Fun fact, Mr. Beast (the biggest YouTuber in the world) has a video scheduled for when he dies. No no no. Don’t make that for your startup just yet, ok?

Make one for the biggest drop-off in your ONBOARDING funnel that blocks activation / monetization.

Think about it this way.

When I ran a digital product company, I would optimize the funnel backward starting at the cart. If you increase the 2% checkout rate to 4%, baam, you’ve just doubled your revenue! No need to run more ads and double the traffic.

For tech startups, there is always this “aha” moment that makes new users see the value of your product. It’s that first automation that runs successfully. Or the perfect prospect list with all the contact info already there.

But to get to the “aha” moment, users need to do a bunch of things, and they often get lost somewhere along the way.

First, you need to identify the biggest drop-off. Just look at the analytics.

Next up, you need to fix it.

For technical products, a better design and copywriting alone won’t do it. There is a knowledge gap about how to actually use the product.

Check out how Webflow solved this problem.

Yes, video! That’s the ONE video that you should create if you could only make one.

❌ Product trailer - nice, but people already saw the screenshots and the promise on the landing page.

❌ Awareness video (“Best 5 widgets”) - nope. To rank it, you’ll need to outcompete everyone else on YouTube.

✅ Onboarding video - yes. Increasing 50% to 80% between the onboarding stages gives you 60% more users.

Oh, and the best part is that the video doesn’t need to be Hollywood quality. You already have your users' attention.
